Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed appointed General Adem Mohammed as the new military chief of staff.

Adem Mohammed was the head of Ethiopia’s National Intelligence and Security Service before his promotion on Friday, 28 June 2019.
Lieutenant General Demelash Gebremichael replaces Mohammed as the new spy boss while Lieutenant General Mola Hailemariam was named the chief of the ground forces.
Brigadier General Asamnew Tsige who was accused by PM Ahmed for plotting the coup in Amhara regional capital of Bahir Dar was killed while trying to flee on Monday, June 24.
Ethiopia’s PM press secretary Billene Seyoum revealed on Friday that 255 people have been detained both in the Amhara region and Addis Ababa following the attempted coup.
